NPB Central League: Yomiuri Giants 2 – 1 Hiroshima Toyo Carp

Raidel Martinez reached another milestone as he closed out the Yomiuri Giants’ 2-1 victory over the Hiroshima Toyo Carp at Mazda Stadium. Martinez took the mound in the bottom of the ninth inning with the Giants holding a one-run lead. He retired all three batters he faced without allowing a hit or a walk, recording one strikeout. The right-hander needed just 12 pitches to complete a perfect ninth inning and earn his 41st save of the season. It was also the 253rd save of Martinez’s NPB career, moving him past Kazuhiro Sasaki into sole possession of third place on the all-time NPB saves list.
