Raidel Martinez shut the door for the Yomiuri Giants in their 3-2 victory over the Tokyo Yakult Swallows at Tokyo Dome. Martinez took the mound in the top of the ninth inning with the Giants holding a one-run lead. He retired all three batters he faced without allowing a hit or a walk, recording two strikeouts. The right-hander threw 21 pitches in a perfect ninth inning to earn his 40th save of the season.
Martinez lowered his ERA to 1.26.
