Osvaldo Bido made his highly anticipated practical debut in Japan on June 21st, taking the mound for two innings in a farm league game against the Lions. The 30-year-old Dominican right-hander pitched the 6th and 7th innings as a vital first step toward adjusting to NPB conditions. Bido threw 33 pitches to face eight batters, surrendering just a single hit—which unfortunately left the yard as a solo home run—and issuing one walk, resulting in one earned run. However, he flashed his immense potential and electric raw stuff by racking up three impressive strikeouts over his short relief stint. Following the standard blueprint for foreign stars using the farm system purely as a tuning ground, Bido focused on his mechanics and timing, taking a major step toward joining the first-team starting rotation.
