NPB Central League Climax Series Final Stage:
Yokohama DeNA BayStars 8 – 5 Osaka Hanshin Tigers
Sean Reynolds survived a bases-loaded jam in the ninth inning to send the Yokohama DeNA BayStars to the Japan Series with an 8-5 victory over the Hanshin Tigers at Koshien Stadium.
The BayStars scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to turn a 5-4 deficit into an 8-5 lead, and Reynolds took the mound in the bottom half to protect the three-run advantage.
Reynolds walked the leadoff batter before striking out Teruaki Sato. After allowing a single and another walk, he found himself in a bases-loaded jam with one out.
However, the right-hander responded by striking out Nozomu Takadera and Seiya Kinami back-to-back to end the game.
Reynolds threw 30 pitches in a scoreless ninth inning, recording three strikeouts to earn his third save of the Final Stage.
The victory sent the BayStars to the Japan Series.
