Bryan Mata turned in a strong starting performance for the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants on August 27th, pitch-matching the Tokyo Yakult Swallows into the 7th inning to earn his 2nd victory of the season. Working through 6.2 innings on 116 pitches, the right-hander surrendered just three hits and one run while racking up six strikeouts. Despite battling through five walks, Mata showed great composure in high-leverage spots to minimize damage and keep the Swallows’ offense at bay. With the gritty quality start, Mata lowered his season ERA to a sharp 2.90, continuing to establish himself as a reliable force in Yomiuri’s starting rotation.
