Raidel Martínez continued his absolute dominance as the premier closer for the Yomiuri Giants on August 26th, slamming the door shut against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows to collect his 36th save of the season. Called upon to protect the lead in the 9th inning, the powerhouse right-hander put on a clinical performance, needing only 10 pitches to retire all three batters he faced in order. Martínez picked up a strikeout while allowing zero hits and zero walks in a flawless 1-2-3 frame. Lowering his season ERA to a sparkling 1.50 with 36 saves under his belt, Martínez remains an unhittable anchor at the back end of the Giants’ bullpen.
