Andrés Machado sealed the deal in surgical fashion for the Orix Buffaloes on August 26th, picking up his 27th save of the season in a victory over the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. Called upon to close out the game in the 9th frame, the hard-throwing right-hander needed a mere eight pitches to retire the side in order, retiring all three batters he faced without allowing a runner to reach base. With another lights-out performance in the books, Machado lowered his season ERA to a stellar 1.28 while improving his impressive ledger to 2-1 with 27 saves. He continues to serve as an untouchable roadblock at the back end of Buffaloes’ bullpen.
