Neftalí Soto showed the Marines’ fighting spirit on June 5th, launching a defiant 5th home run of the season in the top of the 9th inning against the Giants. Returning to the familiar territory of the Tokyo Dome, the veteran slugger connected perfectly with a pitch late in the ballgame, crushing a majestic two-run blast to avoid a shutout and salvage some pride for Chiba Lotte. Soto finished the night 1-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. While he racked up two strikeouts earlier in the game, he made maximum impact with his final swing of the night. Keeping his season batting average at .239, Soto proved once again that he remains a dangerous power threat who can alter the scoreboard in the blink of an eye.
