Raidel Martínez bounced back in dominant fashion on June 2nd, throwing a scoreless 9th inning to secure his 16th save of the season in a tense 3-2 victory over the Buffaloes. Coming out to protect a razor-thin one-run lead in the top of the 9th, the Giants’ elite closer showed impeccable composure. While he allowed a single hit, Martínez issued absolutely no walks and racked up a clutch strikeout, completely shutting down any threat of an Orix comeback. With this flawless response to his previous rocky outing, the star right-hander lowered his season ERA back under the 2.00 threshold to a stellar 1.96, proving once again why he is the ultimate insurance policy for Giants.
