Left-handed pitcher Bryan Sammons, who played for the Chiba Lotte Marines last season, has reached an agreement on a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers. The deal includes an invitation to Major League spring training as a non-roster invitee.
Sammons joined Lotte for the 2025 season and proved to be a reliable part of the rotation. Over 16 appearances, he posted a 5-5 record with one hold and a 3.78 ERA. Despite his solid contributions, he returned to the United States in October and was officially declared a free agent on December 2.
The 30-year-old southpaw now returns to the organization where he made his MLB debut in 2024. During his previous stint with Detroit, he recorded a promising 3.62 ERA over six games. Sammons will now look to leverage his experience in Japan to secure a spot in the Tigers’ bullpen or starting depth for the 2026 season.
