NPB Central League Hanshin Tigers
The Hanshin Tigers have officially announced that pitcher Nick Nelson has been declared a free agent.
In his first year in Japan, Nelson made a significant impact in the bullpen, appearing in 23 games and recording two wins, one loss, and seven holds with an impressive 1.93 ERA. He notably established a strong presence on the mound by pitching 13 consecutive scoreless appearances.
Despite his solid performance, the two parties were unable to reach an agreement on contract terms for next season. Nelson’s estimated salary this year was $900,000 (approx. 140 million yen), and it is reported that financial conditions were a primary factor in the decision to part ways.
