NPB Central League:Hiroshima Carp
The Hiroshima Carp announced they have reached a contract agreement with right-handed pitcher Freddy Tarnok (formerly of the Florida Marlins). The Carp organization highly regards Tarnok as a potential frontline starting pitcher candidate.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound (193 cm, 84 kg) right-hander is a hard-thrower, utilizing his large frame to generate a fastball that touches 97.6 mph (157 km/h). He also commands a sharp-breaking curveball and a reliable changeup, giving him a high strikeout rate.
Tarnok has appeared in 11 career MLB games, posting a 2-1 record and one save. This past season, he pitched in five Major League games with the Marlins, finishing 1-0 with one save.
His extensive background includes 156 Minor League appearances (23-31, 4 saves), of which 101 were starts. Notably, he pitched in 29 Triple-A games this season, achieving a 4-2 record, four saves, and a 3.28 ERA.
