NPB Central League : Yokohama DeNA BayStars

The Yokohama DeNA BayStars announced on November 13 that they have released infielder Tyler Austin.

Austin, who originally joined the BayStars in 2020, was limited to just 65 games this season primarily due to a right patellar tendon inflammation. He finished the year with a .269 batting average, 11 home runs, and 28 RBIs.

While he was a pivotal figure in the team’s championship run in 2024 with his clutch hitting, the decision not to re-sign him was reportedly due to his frequent injuries, which prevented him from being an effective full-season contributor.

Despite the release, Austin remains determined to continue his career, stating he plans to focus on weight loss for next season.

When I captured Austin’s walk-off home run, it wasn’t just me who was overly excited—so were the people on either side of me. I even got my camera bumped by them😅
