NPB Farm League
On May 12th, Oisix Niigata Albirex announced that pitcher Edwin Escobar had left the team. The team accepted his request for the release. Escobar is scheduled to play in the Mexican League moving forward.
Escobar played for seven seasons in Japan’s NPB from 2017 to 2023 with the Nippon-Ham Fighters and the Yokohama DeNA BayStars. His NPB career statistics include 395 games pitched, 22 wins, 23 losses, 5 saves, 147 holds, and a 3.17 ERA.
His return to Japanese baseball with Oisix was announced on March 8th of this year. In the minor league (second team) games up to this point, he appeared in 16 games, recording 0 wins, 1 loss, and a 5.28 ERA.
*The Oisix Niigata Albirex Baseball Club is a team that belongs to the NPB farm league (minor league). As they do not have a first team, there are no promotions for players.
